A Simple Guide to Healthy Living

We are now enjoying the beauty of nature with this wonderful season.  I love the clean smell of the cool, crisp air in the morning, the lovely sounds of the birds calling each other and taking such joy in their day and the new sun shining brightly in the sky.

According to Dr. Jim Nicolai in his book, “A Simple Guide to Healthy Living”, it is vital to bring the beauty of our natural world into our homes and living spaces.  Nature keeps us mindful by capturing our senses.  We feel better when we are surrounded by the beauty of nature.  A recent study from Harvard Medical School known as the Home Ecology of Flowers study conducted by Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., the presence of fresh cut flowers in the home led people to feeling more compassion towards others and having less worry, anxiety and feelings of depression.  Having flowers at home helped people to feel happier, more energetic, and enthusiastic in their places of work.  Bringing nature to us lifts our spirits with minimal effort and maximum reward.

So let’s enjoy the season and the beauty of our landscape!  Bring flowers into your home or office, create a garden or install a water fountain.  Bring yourself some peace and love by connecting with our natural surroundings.  Fortunately at The Kensington, we have lovely patios and spaces to bird watch, sit and view the mountains or watch the people go by, breathe fresh air or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

“The earth has its music for those who listen.”
