They say February is the month of love. But shouldn’t love be spread everyday? At The Kensington in Sierra Madre, we take great pride in sharing our love and gratitude and giving back to our community in any way we can. Our residents want to make a difference. Our team members want to make a difference.
We are very proud of our Still Significant Program. This program allows our residents to continue to feel empowered to help others and be a valuable resource in our community with a sense of purpose. In 2019, our residents made sandwiches for the homeless, put together care packages for our military men and women, read to little children, made baskets for the less fortunate so that they could have a nice Thanksgiving and Christmas and also put together backpacks and school items for children that desperately needed these supplies. Residents also hosted our fire department to thank them for their service.
Our team members collected toys for the holidays for needy children. They also collected cans of food, books, clothes and all sorts of supplies for the entire month of December.
This year, both team members and residents, are collecting supplies for a relief effort for the Australian animals that have recently suffered. Our residents are also helping sew soft blankets to help the animals stay dry and warm during their recovery from the fires.
We hope this year will bring even more charitable work and contributions! Let’s not wait until the holidays to give but rather make it a part of our daily lives beginning this year! Rather than make a New Year’s resolution, let’s just make the daily decisions that make us who we want to be and this includes doing more of the good stuff.
