The Kensington Helps HFC Exceed Fundraising Goal for Alzheimer’s Caregivers

Kensington Senior Living is thrilled to have formed a meaningful partnership with Hilarity for Charity (HFC), helping to raise funds that provide family caregivers with proper support and resources.

HFC was founded in 2012 by Seth Rogan and Lauren Miller Rogan. This summer they partnered with Kensington Senior Living, Home Instead Senior Care, and Rivet Revolution on the We Care Campaign.

Family caregivers often feel isolated, exhausted, and in need of support because caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s is a full-time, unpaid job. They deserve all of the support they can get, especially in these difficult times, making an organization such as HFC so valuable.

Who is HFC and How Do They Support Caregivers?

HFC’s work accelerates progress in Alzheimer’s care, prevention, and support through comedy and by shining light on the Alzheimer’s space.

It is a national non-profit organization, whose mission is to care for families facing Alzheimer’s disease, educate young people about living a brain-healthy life, and activate the next generation of Alzheimer’s advocates.

Through ongoing support, HFC has helped raise over $13 million and awarded over 29,000 hours of in-home care relief to Alzheimer’s family caregivers through the North American Caregiver Respite Grant Program.

In addition to providing caregiver respite, HFC does the following:

  • Organizes online support groups to build caregiver community and connectivity
  • Engages young people across the country to become Alzheimer’s advocates
  • Funds prevention-focused and brain-health research
  • Teaches people how to care for their brain health to lower their risk of Alzheimer’s

The Importance of the We Care Campaign

The donations to the We Care Campaign allow HFC to boost support programs and caregiver respite grants to give caregivers the relief they truly deserve. One hundred percent of the donations will fund HFC care and support programs that provide critical relief to Alzheimer’s family caregivers.

The campaign exceeded its fundraising goal, raising a total of $73,000 through the help of many donors, including those within our own Kensington community.

Kensington Senior Living offered an additional $3,200 in matching dollars to bring the campaign match total to $28,200. These matching donations helped to double each dollar that was given, up to the matching amount.

Working swiftly in response to the coronavirus pandemic and in real-time to care for caregivers, HFC quickly expanded its online caregiver support programs by 55% to meet family members’ growing needs. It also added over 50 drop-in support groups, care focused webinars, and panel discussions to help family caregivers find relief when they needed it most.

Our Work with Rivet Revolution

Kensington Senior Living has held a partnership with Rivet Revolution, who also partnered on the HFC We Care Campaign. Rivet Revolution is a cause-centered jewelry company that has developed a line of bracelets available for purchase in support of Alzheimer’s research.

Our partnership on their “Spread The Love” Campaign, helped raise funds that go toward the fight to end Alzheimer’s.

The Kensington Sierra Madre Supports Those Experiencing Alzheimer’s

As a partner to both our seniors and their families, The Kensington Sierra Madre supports HFC, aligning with its mission and understanding how important it is to support our caregivers.

We appreciate all that HFC and the many donors are doing to bring light to Alzheimer’s. The HFC We Care Campaign communicates to family caregivers that they’re also healthcare heroes. We value their wellbeing during these difficult times.
