According to Aristotle, “The aim of art is not to represent the outward appearance of things, but their inner significance.” In those few words, Aristotle summed up what causes me to make art. Whether painting realistically or experimentally, I’m always asking myself, “What is this painting ABOUT?” A successful painting must contain a synapse between the image being experienced by the artist and an unseen repository
of meaning found somewhere in the artist’s interior. What I hope for as a result is a connection between what my painting expresses and an unseen repository of meaning in the viewer’s interior. When that happens, the painting is a success. There will be a painting demonstration, as well as, wine and cheese. Come out and see some beautiful works of art and meet the artist in person!
