Testimonials

We promise to love and care for your family as we do our own.

Please take a moment to read through some of the lovely messages we’ve received from our residents and their families. We are proud to have earned such glowing remarks!

“We are new to the community and have been very pleased with the level of care and attention for our father in memory care. The staff is accommodating in every way, for example serving my father the foods he especially enjoys. His caretakers are well-trained in dementia and value dignity and purpose for the residents. One of my father’s caretakers, Martha, has spent extra time to keep us up-to-date on my father’s activities, mood, and needs; she shares photos and stories and makes herself available to us as needed. The staff is well supported by an administration that is approachable. Amber and Leandra have patiently guided us through the start of this journey. Clearly those who work at the Kensington enjoy their jobs and support each other. We are thankful to have found this home for our father.

“We LOVE the Kensington!!! My mother has been there almost a year. Moving a parent out of their home into assisted living is a stressful decision. The staff at the Kensington were absolutely wonderful! They helped us through every step of the process. Once my mom was there, we were getting daily updates on her transition. But they were more than just updates, they were family support. The staff and residents are awesome! I know it sounds cliche to say that they are like family, but in this case it’s true. There are times when I visit and mom is still getting ready or decides to sleep late, so I’ll have breakfast with the other residents. I’ll run into other residents’ family members outside of the Kensington who will say they visited my mom today while visiting their parent. We are all family. You get to know the staff like they are your own family too. The other day I was visiting my mom on the patio and when I left I said I love you. She smiled and looked at Sarah (Staff member) and Sarah said we all love you and kissed her on the top of her head. My mom looked at her, tilted her head and said ” oh I love you too..So much” and gave her a big hug. That’s the thing with the Kensigtion, they don’t just care for your folks, they love them. And that is so important right now in the world we are living in. The Kensington staff are Superheroes! We love them all so much. Thank you for all you do!

“My mom has been in assisted living at The Kensington SM for over three years now. It was hard for her to leave her home of 52 years but she needed more care. The Kensington made this transition easier by engaging her in activities and paid careful attention to how she was doing with this change emotionally. It was not an easy decision, but knowing she was going there made it so much easier.

I know that she is receiving the best quality care she could possibly receive. The nurses and aides are warm, kind and are actively involved with the residents throughout the day. They spend time with the residents and get to know them. Any concerns related to the residents’ health are are immediately addressed as are any that our family has had. They have physical therapy onsite so that my mom could continue to get improve after her stroke which she recovered from. Additionally, she continues to get occupational therapy to work on new skills such as using an iPad to Facetime her children and grandchildren during these times. Our family has been beyond grateful that she was at the Kensington during this time. They have gone above and beyond to ensure the residents were safe by providing their employees with proper safety gear and testing.

The Kensington is a beautiful place on the inside and outside. There are two lovely landscaped outdoor areas for visiting and having a meal together which we did often and the food was delicious. The inside is equally as nice and feels like more like a luxury home. Because it is smaller than some, the staff really make the residents and their families feel at home. There are many activities like happy hours that the families attend but have been on hold right now as well as art and other classes.

The most important thing is knowing my mom is being well cared for above all else. The people, location and surroundings makes it a home. I really cannot say enough about the staff. They hire caring people that make the difference.”

“I work at multiple communities as a partner in providing healthcare to residents and I have to say the Kensington truly stands out above the rest. The staff, from maintenance to the executives, all love these residents. Everyone is so patient, supportive, kind. The patience, warmth, tenderness is consistent everywhere I look. They have three neighborhoods each for different levels of assistance and in each, the staff seem to be experts at making the residents feel loved, valued, and special. The Kensington has the best trained caregiving staff i have encountered. The building is beautiful, immaculate, warmly decorated. Also, the activity schedule is jam packed with opportunities truly at almost every hour do the day. This is a unique and special place. When I need assisted living or memory care, this is where I’d want to live.

My grandmother has been living with dementia for many years and my family and I were her primary caretakers for quite some time. When her condition began to progress and we realized she needed to move into a facility to receive full time care, we were concerned and wanted to make the best choice possible for her.

We feel so fortunate to have found the Kensington. We were amazed with the space as soon as we saw it. It’s a beautiful place to live and the cleanliness is top notch – we would be happy to move in! We knew our loved one would be moving into a place that felt like home and not a facility. The quality of my grandma’s care was our biggest concern, since we knew she would need specific care for memory loss.

The Kensington offers two living areas designed especially for memory care depending on the degree of the resident’s condition. Under the leadership and direction of Executive Director, C.C. DeGraff, the staff is well trained, catering to the needs of each individual resident. They are prepared and well versed in assisting their residents specifically with memory loss. They know what to expect and how to handle their behaviors. Knowing that your loved one is safe and well-cared for by people that know her condition is paramount.

My grandma’s transition into the Kensington was incredibly smooth and there is no doubt in our minds that she is receiving the best care possible. Her quality of life has improved greatly because of the daily enrichment, activity, and interaction she receives. The staff has been extraordinary in making her feel at home and loved, which is beyond what we could have imagined! We are so grateful she is in such wonderful and loving care facility!

My 91 year old mother and I have been privileged to attend some special events and lectures at the beautiful Kensington in Sierra Madre. One recently attended event featured a trip around the world food odyssey with passports issued for each food station. The servers were costumed in the country of each station and the regional offerings were delicious. There were decorations to match including an incredible ice sculpture and live music as well. The novelty and creativity of this event were amazing. As always, all the staff members were warm and gracious. Bravo, Kensington!!
